Central Ohio Orienteers' Slate Run Event - No Rain Till the End!

Everyone - We had a day with occasional drizzles for our event on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The storming downpour didn't start until the last of the equipment was put into a car!

The courses were planned by Jason Martin, first time setting courses for COO! Much appreciated! It is hoped he had enough fun on that part of orienteering, that he can do again!

There was one control that forced participants to cross water - from the feedback I heard, if you hit that crossing at just the right spot, and could leap really far, your knees didn't get wet. If you were short, slow, and not so lucky, you might have run the rest of that course in very wet, muddy trousers. Wet feet, though, were part of the deal on the Green course!

We had folks from out of state attend the event - greetings again to Jonathan from Texas who shared his time in Ohio with COO!

Check out the results, finally ready to share here:

Thanks to everyone who showed up to experience orienteering in our Metro Parks, and thanks also to members and friends of COO who were able to assist with setup / welcome / instruction and control pickup! We hope that you'll share another day with COO looking in the woods for things on an orienteering map! Two more events coming up for COO in 2026!
